Land Recognition and Statement of Inclusion
Growing methods which work with the cycles of nature, rather than against them, are called many things- regenerative, whole system, restorative, permaculture, etc. However, what is most important to remember about them is that they are not new methods of producing food. The Indigenous Peoples of this land were engaging with these methods long before they were "rediscovered" in recent years. The regenerative methods I encourage on this site are not creations of my own, they are ways of growing that have been, and still are, practiced by the Native Tribes from which this land stolen. Our business is housed on the ancestral lands of the Samish and Swinomish Nations and we recognize that when we work in other locations, we are also working on stolen land. We try to ensure that Indigenous Leaders guide our understanding of regenerative practices by engaging with their websites and learning resources before any others.
Additionally, Cruising Climate LLC is a place of inclusion. It is important to us that gardening and landscaping be accessible to all races, ethnicities, faiths, genders, sexualities, and ages. Oppressive and harmful actions and words will not be tolerated at our work sites. I do understand that a difference in views is important in our nation and I welcome working with people who hold differing opinions than myself. However, I will not welcome speech or behavior that uses those differences to infringe upon the rights of others.
